What's the current VALKOREY Team Status?
The first episode of the VALKOREY animated series has been in production for quite some time, leaving many fans wondering about the project's current status and seeking an update on its director and animation team.
Though they may seem to have disappeared over the past year, a closer look reveals they have been there all along.
VALKOREY in Germany.
Shortly after the animated series was sponsored by VOGRACE for its first merchandise launch in 2025, part of the team attended an international convention in Hamburg. This was the series’ first public appearance and event. Fans traveled from as far as the United States to Germany to meet the artists behind the VALKOREY series and shop exclusive merchandise.
“Even though we overstocked, we still sold out of more items than we expected.” ~Valkorey
While some merchandise was still available, it was not nearly enough for the global shop launch, which was the team's next step. It truly was an unforgettable experience for everyone. But the event ended bittersweet. Not only was it time for the team to head home, but Valkorey also injured the wrist of her drawing hand.
Long recovery & hardship.
Due to years of overworking her wrist as a full-time artist, Valkorey was forced to take a step back. Not only from the animated series, but also her day job as an artist. After two surgeries, where her wrist had been cut open, it was a long road to recovery and months without drawing."I couldn't even hold and cut my own vegetables for dinner," Valkorey said. "I could only bring the knife down and hope the carrot wouldn't fly away from the impact."
In the meantime, the team did what they could without their main animator and director, while facing their own hardships throughout 2025. Darleena, the inbetween animator for the series, mentioned that she was forced to spend less time as an artist and animator to find a local job to pay her rising food and utility bills.
“I wish I could spend my time working on something I really enjoy.” ~Darleena
It is no secret that the events of 2025 and 2026 have had a profound impact on people around the world, and every member of the VALKOREY team felt those effects in one way or another. While they all love animating, they know that health and stability in life come first.

Cirma, another inbetweener on the team, made the following statement: “It was to be expected after that wrist surgery, and I was personally more worried about Valkorey than I was about the work itself. I just kept going with the tasks I was previously assigned and waited for whenever there would be any news or new assignments to work on.”
Like Darleena, Cirma also faced significant personal challenges after the release of the VALKOREY series intro and the last episode preview. “Shortly after joining the team, a very close family member had to undergo two heart surgeries. During those surgeries and the months of recovery, I was quite paralyzed.”
Final word from the director, Valkorey
“It’s been a tough year, for everyone. It wasn’t just the wrist recovery; I also had to move around a lot, change jobs, face high inflammation rates in my body, and deal with family loss.” Valkorey explained. “When i was on the road or in the hospital, it was easier for me to work on merchandise. Sketching a design for a new print required less focus than animating frame by frame.”
“When I was moving, I also did not have my setup to record my voice and videos the way I would have wanted to. Perhaps it would have been better if I simply used the phone microphone to break the silence on YouTube.” Valkorey admitted.
“However, I know my community; they would notice something is off. They are smart, haha.” ~Valkorey
“I am sorry for not breaking the silence earlier. Sometimes the best course of action is to focus on the inevitable challenges in front of you and get through them one by one, rather than adding more complexity to the layers before solving anything.”
Light at the end of the tunnel
While the world is still upside down, the team appears to slowly move beyond the hardships of the past 12 months. Recently, director Valkorey announced that the team will return to Eurofurence in Hamburg for another public appearance.
The team has also welcomed two new members, hinting at a more serious expansion of the VALKOREY content. One has joined as an additional event manager, while the other will serve as a dedicated web developer.
Although the past year brought its share of setbacks, the VALKOREY team has shown no intention of abandoning the project. With its return to Eurofurence, new additions to the team, and development moving forward once again, it's clear that the story is far from over.
